Baked goods and coffee giant Dunkin’ Donuts recently announced the signing of multi-unit store development agreements. The deal, which was made with three franchise groups, is for the development of 13 new locations in North and South Carolina over the coming years. This signing will keep the company on target to hit its goal of developing 410 to 440 new restaurants in the U.S. throughout 2015.
Kings Point Ventures, LLC, one of the franchise groups, is aiming for eight new locations in the Raleigh area, with the first location scheduled to open at the end of the year and the rest by 2018. The second group, Dunkin’ franchisees Donna and Vince Machi, will open a new restaurant in Charlotte by 2016. Coastal Franchising, the third group, is planning to open four new locations in Charleston.
According to CFE and Dunkin’ Brands vice president of global franchising and business development Grant Benson, it’s the chain’s franchisees’ dedication and enthusiasm that have made the brand grow so fast. Dunkin’ is currently one of the fastest growing companies by unit in the QSR industry.
Today, there are more than 370 Dunkin’ Donuts locations throughout North and South Carolina, and recruitment of franchisees in the Wilmington and Greensboro areas is ongoing. There are special incentives available for development in the North Carolina area, including three years of reduced royalties and a maximum of $5,000 in area marketing support for on-time openings.
For competitive reasons and to keep the Dunkin’ Donuts brand fresh, the company has flexible concepts for varying real estate types, including free-standing locations, convenience stores, travel hubs, universities and other retail environments. This allows franchisees to work within their market, budget and personal preferences when it comes to their store type.
Franchisees are able to choose from four different design options for their restaurants, each with distinct variations in color schemes, layout, textures, graphics, lighting and furniture. They can also select individual elements from any of the four choices, allowing them the freedom to design a location that reflects their preferences while still meeting their location and restaurant size needs.
