Johnny Rockets Opens New Franchise Business in NYC

Date

Feb 27, 2017

Diner-themed restaurant brand Johnny Rockets recently opened a franchise business location in one of the busiest areas in New York City near Madison Square Garden, Penn Station and the subway station at 34th Street. This new store will be open early each day for breakfast to serve commuters on their way into work, and it will also serve late into the night for people who want to get a great burger, a shake and other snacks after a night out.

The grand opening event held on Saturday, January 7th,was open to the public, with the first 100 people in line receiving free meals from the restaurant chain. There were prizes, food sampling, giveaways and more at the celebration, and it also supported a local Boys & Girls Club, to which the brand is donating $5,000 in support of the organization's after-school programming.

Brand chef Calvin Harris and President of Operations and Development James Walker also conducted an after-school event of their own at the Education Alliance Boys & Girls Club at the School of the Future on 22nd Street.Students were able to work with Chef Harris as he hand-spun shakes and grilled burgers, created art from ketchup, and taught them about cooking at home and the restaurant industry.

In the midst of its 30th anniversary, this diner-themed franchise is well known for its 1950s look, with stores featuring jukeboxes, dancing servers dressed in the soda fountain uniforms of that era, and its original shakes and burgers. This new NYC location is being called ā€œ2.0"as its design has a more modern look, with simple white-and-black uniforms for servers and dark shirts for managers. The interior lighting is a mix of industrial and contemporary glass globes with splashes of red for color. It stables and chairs are warm gray with wood detail and hints of red, and the open kitchen is stainless steel and white tile.

Brand CEO and President John Maguire noted that New York is an important market for the brand and they are looking to expand further there in the future. Both neighborhood and local commuter markets are displaying a higher demand for breakfast, and the new store's location is ideal for the breakfast rush in the area. Breakfast items will be made-to-order and served quickly thanks to the tech in the new style of kitchen featured in the 2.0 stores. The new location will also offer "Grab Nā€™ Go" items, including fruit bowls, yogurt parfaits, salads and sandwiches.
