How to make next year brilliant
Lots of people make New Year's resolutions, but keeping...
Networking is essential for succeeding in franchising because it offers franchisees the opportunity to grow and develop their skills, learn from the experiences of others, and apply industry best practices to their own business. Networking allows you to access resources and support, not only from your franchisor but from suppliers, other franchisees, your local community, and other business partners.
By developing a good network, you can strengthen your brand, keep up to date on the latest innovations and trends in your industry, and improve your reputation. There are many types of networking that are available to franchisees, including mentoring, attending industry associations and trade shows, online engagement, and community involvement.
It is important to note that networking is not just about showing up. To be effective and glean a real benefit from networking, you must be purposeful in your approach. Be sure to identify your goals in advance and focus your attention on appropriate networking opportunities. For example, if you want to acquire new skills or learn about new products, go to a franchise expo or a relevant industry event. If you want to be mentored, consider joining appropriate LinkedIn groups or reaching out to your franchisor for advice and guidance.
Be prepared for all of your engagements, and aim to make meaningful connections with those you approach and those who approach you. Find common points of interest and ask relevant questions to drive the conversation. Follow up after the event if you wish to remain in contact, discuss any particular points in greater detail, or pursue the conversation in your own time. When you become a franchisee, you are in business for yourself, not by yourself, so make the most of the community and relationships that are available to you.
MFV Expositions, The Franchise Expo, will be visiting Los Angeles, New York, Fort Lauderdale and Austin this year. If you are eager to explore the opportunities offered by franchising in America, these expos will provide valuable insight, learning and development opportunities, and the ability to network. In addition to meeting franchisors from more than 100 different brands, there will be presentations and workshops to showcase new innovations; discuss franchise law, financing and other relevant topics; allow attendees to ask questions; delve into the details of what makes franchising a great career choice; and help prospective franchisees determine which franchises most appeal to their interests, personality, and availability.
