At Be The Boss, we get asked a lot of questions about franchises. One of the most common questions is, “What’s the top franchise?” or “What are the top types of franchises?”. But, there’s no easy answer. If you want to know which franchised corporations gross the most revenue, you can look that up for any given year. But does that mean that it’s the best franchise for franchisees? Not necessarily. Furthermore, everybody is different. What might be best for one prospective franchisee in one city may not be the best franchise for another prospective franchisee in a different city with a different skillset and different financial capabilities. Nonetheless, we can broadly discuss some of the top types of franchises in the U.S.A. Here are the top ten franchises in the U.S.A.

1. Fast Food Restaurants

Fast food, or quick service, restaurants are the classic example of a franchised business. And they’re still going strong. They dominate the top ten of Entrepreneur magazine’s “Franchise 500 List”. It’s one of the safer investments you can make in the franchising world.

2. Sit-Down Restaurants

But fast food is not the only type of food that makes money in franchising. Sit-down restaurants are also among the top ten franchises in the U.S.A.

3. Fitness Franchises

What are you going to do after eating all that fast food? You have to work it off, right? Maybe that’s why fitness and gym franchises are among the top ten franchises in the U.S.A.

4. Realty Franchises

Real estate services are in the top ten, too. Real estate service franchises can focus on different types of real estate and can specialize in them, so there is a broad range of services from which to choose.

5. Automotive Franchises

With so many vehicles on the road, automotive repair franchises have an absolutely enormous potential pool of customers. People are driving their vehicles for long now, too, and older vehicles require more maintenance and repair than do newer vehicles. With so many potential customers needing so much business, it’s not wonder why automotive franchises are one of the top ten types of franchises in the U.S.A.

6. Senior Care Franchises

Unless you’ve been living in a cave, on Mars, you probably know that the large Baby Boomer generation are now entering their senior years. Seniors typically require more care and assistance than do younger people. For this reason, senior care franchises are serving more and more clients every year, and they need more franchise locations to serve this growing demand. This puts them in the top ten.

7. Tax Service Franchises

Nobody likes doing their taxes. And this will never change. As such, tax service franchises will always have a core group of clientele, and thus, their spot in the top ten should be safe.

8. Pest Control Franchises

Much like how nobody likes taxes, nobody likes pests. People aren’t going to suddenly start taking in cockroaches or marmorated stink bugs as pets, so pest control franchises should also have a strong customer base for a long time.

9. Landscaping Franchises

Landscaping franchises are great at securing repeat business and this steady cash flow makes them one of the top types of franchises in the U.S.A.

10. Ice Cream Franchises

Who doesn’t like ice cream?
