New IFA President Announced

Date

Mar 11, 2013

Today, I am very pleased and excited to announce that effective June 15, 2010, Steve Caldeira, most recently the Executive Vice President of Global Communications & Chief Public Affairs Officer for Dunkin’ Brands, Inc., has been selected as IFA’s new President and Chief Executive Officer. Steve is no stranger to the IFA having been a member of the Board of Directors and a participant in several annual conventions, legal symposiums and public affairs conferences the past few years.

As you know, I appointed a Search Committee in mid-March to begin the process to identify a new President and Chief Executive Officer to replace Matthew Shay. The Search Committee was comprised of current and past officers, including Jack Earle, Jon Luther, Steve Romaniello, Steve Greenbaum, Dina Dwyer-Owens and myself.

Over the past two and a half months, the Search Committee, along with outside counsel from the Washington, DC office of Russell Reynolds Associates, has been working diligently and effectively to find the best candidate to lead IFA.

Steve has almost 30 years of legislative, political, communications, franchising, fundraising, corporate, trade association and education-related experience.

Steve has been named one of the “Top 50 Influencers” by Nation’s Restaurant News, a “Rising Star” by Campaigns & Elections and Restaurant Hospitality magazines, respectively. Steve is also the recipient of numerous foodservice industry awards and accolades for his many years of service and contributions to various education and legislative-related organizations, including the National Restaurant Association, National Restaurant Association Educational Foundation, International Foodservice Manufacturers Association, The Elliot Leadership Institute, Multicultural Foodservice & Hospitality Alliance and the Women’s Foodservice Forum, among many others. A press release with more information can be viewed by clicking here.

As the IFA and the franchising industry continue to work through a challenging economic and political climate, it will be critically important that we remain proactive around the association’s three main strategic priorities:

Government Relations
Public Relations, and
Education/Professional Development;
With Steve’s appointment, I am extremely confident that the IFA and the franchising industry will continue to sharpen its focus and impact in the years ahead.

On behalf of the Search Committee and IFA staff, please join me in congratulating Steve on his new appointment as IFA President and Chief Executive Officer. Beginning June 15, 2010, Steve can be reached at scaldeira@franchise.org or at 202-628-8000.

Sincerely,

Kenneth D. Walker
IFA Chairman
