Checkers and Rally’s has announced three restaurant openings – 2 in Philadelphia, and in Camden, bringing a mouthwatering dining experience to the local communities. The multi-unit franchisee, Dinesh Goswami, adds to his 3 Checkers locations, with the new stores in Philadelphia and Camden for a total of six restaurants within Pennsylvania, Delaware and New Jersey.
“I am excited to bring more Checkers and Rally’s franchise restaurants to the East Coast within my home market,” said Goswami. “I’ve navigated the industry for years and am looking forward to propelling the brand in these cities. In business, my goal is to achieve success while ensuring the well-being of my team members. Through the implementation of Checkers and Rally’s innovative new prototype and double drive-thru model, we seek to enhance the dining experience of our guests for many years ahead.”
With a background in banking and finance, Goswami has experience with both small and large corporations. He also owns other franchise concepts on the East Coast, including Taco Bell, Pizza Hut and Popeyes. The latest restaurants represent an updated prototype look and a simplified operating model to better serve the community.
“Dinesh’s commitment to the franchise industry defines the entrepreneurial drive we are looking for in our franchisees,” said Robert Bhagwandat, Senior Director of Franchise Development at Checkers Drive in Restaurants. “His goals as an entrepreneur create an environment where each team member is valued, reflected by the continuous improvement of his operations and additional openings. We are confident that all the communities he serves will embrace the new restaurant, making it a go-to destination for delicious food and bold flavors.”
Also expanding with a network of existing operators is the market across Arizona.
With its unique double drive-thru and bold flavors, Checkers & Rally’s has built a robust presence in Phoenix, recognized for its vibrant economy and diverse population. Dedicated multi-unit operators in Arizona continue to add Checkers & Rally’s units to their portfolios, resulting in the brand’s speedy growth in this region. This market development not only strengthens Checkers & Rally’s regional position, but also showcases its commitment to nationwide expansion objectives.
Bruce Ong, affiliated with the brand since 2001, currently owns and manages three Rally’s locations in Phoenix, Mesa, and Tempe. Due to the outstanding performance of his existing locations, Ong is gearing up to develop more units throughout Arizona. Likewise, business partners Dan Leung and Fred Bux, and separate operator Tony Williams, were drawn to the compact design and kitchen efficiency. Both groups share the determination to grow their ventures, leveraging their past successes to extend the brand’s reach and introduce its extensive offerings and value pricing to a larger community.
“Our brand’s commitment to quality and value has truly resonated with the local community in Phoenix and across the state,” states Kris McDonald, VP of Development at Checkers & Rally’s Drive in Restaurants. He adds, “It’s reassuring to see our franchisees recognizing this positive response and eagerly expanding their portfolios. We’re proud to be a part of the communities we serve and look forward to continued growth in the state.”
Air Force veteran and franchise owner Keith Gallagher and business partner Gautam Ramchandani were attracted to the brand’s extensive corporate support and revenue potential. In addition to other concepts including Weinershnitzel, Auntie Anne’s, and Cinnabon, the seasoned franchisees plan to open a second Arizona Checkers and Rally’s location in the coming months, and look forward to continuing rapid expansion across the state.
“As a restaurant operator in Phoenix, I’ve observed a significant upswing in market growth,” states Gallagher. “The enthusiastic support from our local customers has set us up to explore further expansion opportunities in this thriving city. We’re eager to maintain our commitment to serving the Phoenix community and contributing to its ongoing and vibrant development.”
Checkers & Rally’s dedication to ongoing brand investment is driven by the optimistic outlook on substantial returns, and room for multi-unit scalability. The current Arizona expansion echoes the company’s proactive approach to cultivating innovative drive-thrus and improving customer interactions to thrust the drive-thru industry forward. By launching this strategic expansion, Checkers & Rally’s reinforces its position as a pioneer in the quick-service space, continually pushing the envelope in flavor innovation, operational efficiency, and integration in the community.
Merged in 1999 to form one concept, Checkers & Rally’s primarily operates through a proven franchise model, benefitting owners with brand recognition, development support, and marketing resources. Potential franchise prospects can develop on less than half an acre, half the size of competing drive-thru concepts. Checkers & Rally’s currently target select markets throughout the United States, predominantly in Wisconsin, Ohio, New York, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, California, Las Vegas, Arizona, Virginia, North Carolina, South Carolina, and Tennessee.
