A Zaxby's franchisee group has just paid over seven figures to bring the brand's first location to the City of Richmond in Virginia. The new franchise business is set to open this fall on W. Broad Street in the place of a recently closed Arby's that had been there since 1968. This new store is backed by CWC Food Services, a group comprised of James Cannon, Bryan Willis and Ryan Converse, who own the brand's franchise rights for a large portion of the Richmond market.
According to Converse, current plans call for remodeling the existing building as opposed to tearing it down. He and his partners opened their first location back in February further down the same street, and their second location on Staples Mill Road opened in April. This new store marks the chain's first location in the city proper, said Converse, who noted that the city's density made it difficult to find a spot.
The 31-year-old Converse, a former Zaxby's corporate employee, moved to Richmond ten months ago to lead the chain's expansion into the area. CWC Food Services has plans for nine more locations in Henrico, and there's also a Wyndham store in the works. The chain itself has more than 800 locations operating across the United States.
Founded in Georgia to provide tasty chicken entrees, Zaxby's currently has franchises for sale in many markets, including Florida, Texas, Ohio and Missouri. The initial franchise fee is $35,000, and the total investment ranges from $215,100 to $655,100.
