Chicken finger, wing, sandwich and salad eatery Zaxby’s recently announced the groundbreaking of a new location in Atlanta, Georgia, on the corner of Newcastle Street and 946 Martin Luther King Jr. Drive. This is the junction of four historic neighborhoods--Vine City, Atlanta University Center, Washington Park and Ashview Heights--and historically black colleges and universities (HBCUs) such as Spelman and Morehouse Colleges; Clark Atlanta University; and the Morehouse School of Medicine.
Brand CEO and President Sterling Coleman said the company is thrilled to be able to support the area and provide opportunities for jobs for residents. Coleman grew up in an area just like the site of the new location and is also a proud HBCU graduate, so he feels personally connected to the people and the heritage of the area.
Coleman has opened eight other brand locations in Atlanta, and he also owns the first franchise business to hit $4 million in annual sales. This newest location is slated to open later in the year, and to mark the occasion, the brand held a dedication and groundbreaking ceremony. The brand and its CEO are also contributing $50,000 to the Choice Neighborhood of Atlanta initiative over the next decade, which is a program aimed at improving the condition of and quality of life in Atlanta's west-side neighborhoods.
The CEO has been also been a franchisee with the company for more than 16 years, and he's opened 17 locations in Oklahoma and Georgia.
Established in 1990 by friends Tony Townley and Zach McLeroy, Zaxby’s serves salads, sandwiches, chicken fingers and wings in an offbeat, engaging atmosphere where customers are treated more like friends.
Since its inception, this brand has grown to more than 900 locations across 17 states, and it still has franchise opportunities open in some markets. The investment for one of this brand's franchise opportunities ranges from $369,800 to $744,200.
