APRICOT LANE BOUTIQUE OPENS IN FORT COLLINS, CO
Apricot Lane, a new clothing and accessories boutique in Old Town Fort Collins, opened on April 15 at 119 W. Oak St.
Judy McLean is the Apricot Lane franchisee for this location. When the tech industry no longer held any appeal for Judy McLean, she looked for a new venture that would allow her to interact more with the public and nurture her creative side. “I have an entrepreneur spirit and I was tired of forcing a square peg into a round hole — it was time to follow my heart,” McLean said. “I’ve received great support from others who have made similar moves. This new journey feels natural.”
The California-based franchise has other stores in Centennial and Longmont.
Although she will be a franchisee, McLean said she will have the flexibility to tailor her product selections to the Fort Collins community. The store will cater to women whose busy lifestyles may not allow them to keep up with the latest fashion trends, however, looking put together is important to them, McLean said.
Products range from trendy to essential basics, plus yoga clothing, including name brands LVR and Glyder. They also sell accessories, shoes and jewelry -- some designed by McLean’s daughter Sarah Jurkoic -- and bracelets made by Cambodian women who have escaped sex trafficking and are learning a trade to help them become self-supportive.
The 1,900 square-foot store is decorated with brick walls, vintage accents and chandeliers.
“The goal is to help our customers, mainly women 28 to 55, find their flare and step out of the edge a bit allowing their true colors to shine,” said McLean. “When someone comes into the store I want her to feel special when she leaves.”
The store is open from noon to 6 p.m. on Sunday; 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. Monday through Thursday; and 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday.
