Heath and Alicia Spore; Owners of #21 in Winter Park, FL #58 Apopka, FL.
We purchased two existing locations. Our decision
to purchase our first Pinch A Penny franchise store in 2001 in
Winter Park, Fl came after deciding we no longer wanted to continue
working for others. Alicia was in management with The Gap and
I was in the law enforcement field.
The purchase experience began with a visit to our home by Bob
Slaughter who at the time was the VP of Operations &
Marketing....after speaking with him we knew we wanted to move
forward - the support of the franchise
was beyond what we had expected.
Running the store is fun! We get to mix with the public
and soon find that most of our customers are repeats so we get to
know them and watch their kids grow up which helps us build strong
relationships with our customers.
The hours of store operations are great compared with most
retail locations - this allows for time in the evenings with
family.
Store #58 in Apopka, FL was purchased in Mar 2008....adding a
second store was challenging but well worth the effort. We
have a system in place that runs smoothly......the employees are
happy/low turn-over, the profitability is definitely there and now
that we are cleaning just over 300 pools and offering repairs,
installations and general service calls business has increased by
at least 8-12% over the last 5 years.
The corporate staff is fantastic - not that I call very often,
but knowing that if I need to speak with our CEO, he will take my
call if he's available or return it within 24 hours.
The products Pinch
A Penny offers are current and with twice a week
deliveries during the “season” allows us to not have to carry more
inventory than is needed. Pinch A Penny has created a brand
awareness and customer following that is hard to replicate in this
day of the internet.
Overall, joining the Pinch A Penny family has given us the
opportunity to be successful & enjoy the lifestyle we desire all
while raising a family in a manner that is desirable.
