1. Tell us about the Caliber Care+Transport concept.
Caliber Care is an all in one solution to an often overlooked problem in the healthcare sector – transportation. When my grandmother needed transportation we saw what was out there and I didn’t feel comfortable leaving her in the care of a lot of the options we saw. We asked ourselves, do ambulances wait for you to take the patient to the curb? What if we offer a bedside-to-doctorside model for the non-emergency sector? And that is where we are today.
2. How and when did you become involved with Caliber Care+Transport?
I started the company with my father, Klein Calvert, shortly after we ended our operations as a provider with DHL. We wanted to marry our experience in logistics with something recession proof , while also doing something that impacted peoples lives and made a difference.
3. What was your background prior to joining Caliber Care+Transport?
I worked alongside my father, learning logistics and business operations. Together, we founded Caliber using the same industry expertise and technology, and put our experiences to bring better care, shorter wait times, and lower costs. Having logistics in our DNA is one of the most beneficial advantages to patient transport.
4. What are some of the advantages in being a Caliber Care+Transport franchisee?
As an independent provider of NEMT services you are not only managing patients but capacity as well. This means that on the day you open your doors you must be prepared to become an expert at not only managing your logistics , but a call center as well. With Caliber we have that covered , you can work from home and let our professional staff handle the call intake, dispatching , and a large portion of the invoicing for you. We have more combined experience and gravitas than any other NEMT provider in the country and you get access to it.
5. Who is your ideal franchisee?
You don’t have to be in healthcare or transportation to be successful with Caliber. In fact, some of our best franchisees had little to no experience in the industry. We want friendly, outgoing, and sales driven people to share and expand our concept to health systems across in the market.
6. Tell us a little about the Non-Emergency Medical Transportation Market?
We are in a great niche, it's one of the few healthcare franchise opportunities that isn’t oversaturated and the need for getting people from A to B doesn’t seem to be ending anytime soon.
7. What are some of the greatest lessons you’ve learned in growing this franchise?
Quality over Quantity. At the beginning we didn’t know what made a good franchisee, and we learned the hard way! Now we do and like in any business getting the right people is key.
8. In your opinion, why do you think that Caliber would be a great opportunity for someone?
Caliber allows you to expand at your pace, you start off with 3 vans and can work from home. With operations being handled on our end, it frees the owner to focus on sales and growth. Caliber allows you to scale extremely fast and can be not only lucrative, but rewarding for a prospective business owner. Being in the healthcare industry is a solid choice with today’s aging population.
